RECREATION

There are many exciting things to do in Redmond. For outdoor enthusiasts, Redmond has an extensive park and trail system on more than 1,350 acres and 25 miles of trails. Recreational facilities range from community, neighborhood and resource parts to undeveloped open space, beautification areas, a waterfront park on Lake Sammamish, a wildlife preserve and a farm with equestrian facilities. Cultural venues include the Eastside Symphony, the Washington Academy of Performing Arts, the Second Story Repertory, Redwood Theatre and a historical museum located in Marymoor Park near the Redmond Town Center.

Marymoor Park is a 640-acre regional county park at the northern end of Lake Sammamish with baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts, and such features as a climbing wall, a field for radio-controlled airplanes and a velodrome - an oval bicycle track for organized racing. An off-leash exercise area offers dogs and their owners a chance to socialize. Not far from Redmond's Marymoor Park are public beaches on Lake Sammamish for the residents to enjoy.
There are a number of great golf courses for Redmond residents. Willows Run Golf Course is the closest to the Redmond Town Center. Within a 20-minute drive golfers can also enjoy the Plateau Club in Sammamish, courses in Bellevue, Carnation and Fall City and private clubs including Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish and Bear Creek Country Club in Woodinville. The 1998 PGA Championship Tournament was held at Sahalee, and this event will be returning in several years.
